About Crafted in Chaos

Crafted in Chaos believes in creative entrepreneurs making their businesses work for them so they can truly be passionate in their lives. Crafted in Chaos offers services such as WordPress website design, maintenance, graphic & print design, photography, and consulting to give innovative and inspiring business owners a leg to stand on when it comes to their web presence. Most of all, Crafted in Chaos believes in creativity, thinking outside the box, and the white cottage industry, be it product based business or service based companies, and truly thinks that there is plenty of room in this world for people to make a living doing what they love.

Crafted in Chaos limits the current client-base to ensure each client gets what they need when they need it. As such, Crafted in Chaos is not always available for new clients and will either schedule projects further down the calendar if they are not time sensitive, or will refer clients to other designers, consultants, or photographers who Kenna has personally developed a relationship with and can recommend. You can find out if Crafted in Chaos is currently taking on new clients by checking the contact/request a quote form.

About Kenna

Kenna is the mind, body, and soul behind Crafted in Chaos, and prides herself in knowing what it’s like to be a creative entrepreneur. Kenna has been working with WordPress since 2004, roughly a year after WordPress launched, and basic website design since 2000 (utilizing X/HTML, CSS, and other languages as the years have gone on). Kenna has has an interest in photography since 2002, and has constantly needed to employ her photography skills in business endeavors which has pushed her to improve. Throughout the years, Kenna has taken on various projects for other creatives as well as followed her own path in business.

From 2007 to 2009, Kenna owned and operated Self Production Design, a graphic and print shop for small business owners, with a focus on Etsy shop owners. She operated on Etsy and on her own website (no longer available, but the Flickr stream still is!) Kenna served over 200 micro-businesses, providing basic graphic design (banners, business cards, etc) and printing services (stickers, cards, tags, scratchcards, promotional materials, etc). Kenna ultimately closed SPD when she was pregnant with her first child due to extremely high demand of her services and a difficult pregnancy.

In 2010, Kenna prepared to turn her favorite hobby, soapmaking, into a business with Amathia Soapworks. Kenna has been enjoying the hobby of soapmaking since 2004, and decided to quit her “real” job to pursue it. In March 2011, Amathia Soapworks launched and has continued to operate with much success. In 2012, Kenna began writing ebooks and teaching classes on soapmaking, as well as planning and organizing events and workshops for soapmakers.

Meanwhile, in 2011 and 2012, Kenna continuously worked with various web & graphic design agencies to assist with projects and various clients. Time and time again, Kenna was appalled with the mentality of some of the agencies she worked with and how they did not seem to care about the best interest of client’s business. As the busy holiday season for Amathia Soapworks approached in 2011, Kenna cut back on agency work to focus on her own company.

Due to the need to outsource some technical work on Amathia Soapworks’ website, Kenna met Jen of Eco-Office Gals. Not only was Jen an absolute asset and someone who Kenna collaborated with on other projects thereafter, Jen also inspired her to continue working with creative entrepreneurs by cutting out the agencies and starting Crafted in Chaos. It is here that Kenna can apply her skills to help other micro-business owners while getting to know them, and inspiring each other to be the best they can be.

Besides soapmaking, website design, graphical work, and photography, Kenna enjoys cooking, baking, and reading. Kenna and her husband have two little tots (both girls, a little over a year apart!) who provide constant inspiration and motivation.
